We have invited Leslie Johnston, Executive Director at C&A Foundation to share her journey of giving purpose to her corporate career in the fashion industry. Afterwards, you will have the chance to do some good, have some fun and go home with a new-to-you item of clothing, by swapping one or more pieces of clothing during the clothes swap!

Do you know who made your clothes? Probably not, but you should, because the clothes that we love can create jobs and opportunities for millions of women in some of the poorest countries in the world...if they are made ethically.

Leslie leads the corporate foundation working to make sure that this is the case... to make fashion a force for good. And she is keen to share her story about how she got there - and what she has learned along the way. As usual, we will have a networking apéro to continue the discussions....and this time we are bringing a surprise, our first-ever clothing SWAP!

The fashion industry is currently undergoing a huge transformation, and sustainability and transparency are gaining more relevance among customers. We will hear first-hand insights from Leslie and discuss about sustainability in the fashion industry.

What exactly is a clothing SWAP?

If you are a Marie Kondo fan or have ever done a spring cleaning, you will be happy to hear that a fashion swap is a really fun and sustainable way to update your closet, letting go of what you no longer need or want, and leaving space for the new.

How does it work? Easy - Bring 1 to 3 pieces of clothing and get 1 to 3 pieces back :)

About Leslie:

Leslie Johnston joined the C&A Foundation as its first Executive Director in late 2013 and brings over 20 years of management experience across multiple sectors. At the C&A Foundation, Leslie led the development of the foundation’s first global vision, mission, and strategy, anchored on making fashion a force for good. She oversees a team of over 50 people in nine countries and a grant budget of over EUR 50 million, working to improve lives and livelihoods across the foundation’s four signature programmes.

Leslie currently serves on the boards of Fashion for Good B.V., COFRA Foundation, The European Venture Philanthropy Association (EVPA). GoodWeave International, CottonConnect, and the Organic Cotton Accelerator.
